O`ahu Group: New Officers for 1996

The Oahu Group, Hawaii Chapter of the Sierra Club is pleased to announce the election of its new officers for 1996. They are: Philip Bogetto, Oahu Group Chair; Henry Curtis, Oahu Group Vice-Chair, Conservation Chair and Oahu Group Representative to the Hawaii Chapter Executive Committee; T.J. McAniff, Secretary/Treasurer; Reese Liggett, Outings Chair; Roz Wright, Program/Fund Raising Chair; Marilyn Gates, Membership Chair.

The recent election resulted in the selection of Roz Wright, Reese Liggett, Henry Curtis and Philip Bogetto to fill the four vacancies. David Grupen who still had one year left on his term, was elected to the Hawaii Chapter, Executive Committee and has resigned. The Oahu Group Executive Committee needs to fill this vacancy on its board. Any members who are interested in serving on the Oahu Group Executive Committee are requested to contact any of the above officers, whose telephone numbers are listed on page two of the Malama.

The Oahu Group has set as its goals this year, to insist that the State of Hawaii and City and County of Honolulu, provide access to all trails and beaches; to monitor all actions involving water issues, including compliance with the Clean Water Act, distribution and use of fresh water on the Island of O`ahu and protection of our coastal waters.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:

The Executive Committee of the O`ahu Group, Hawaii Chapter, meets on the fourth (4th) Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m., at the First Unitarian Church, 2500 Pali Highway, Honolulu, Hawaii. All members are welcomed to attend any of these meetings.

The Outings Committee of the Oahu Group maintains a very active schedule of outings, hikes and, service trips. All members are urged to participate in one or more of these activities for both personal enjoyment and to protect, preserve and restore the quality of our environment.
