Recently, we have intensified our efforts in ensuring that the government performs the tasks necessary to protect the environment. We have called for protection of our streams through the use of buffers. The Office of State Planning is currently reviewing such a proposal. The Health Department has agreed with us that big industry should pay higher fees for the processing of water pollution permits. We have asked the Health Department to amend its proposed noise rules to ensure the quiet of our neighborhoods. We have also called on the Health Department to do more to control polluted runoff.
On the administrative level, I'm happy to report that we have streamlined our operations, significantly cutting back on our expenses. We will be moving shortly to save on rent. (Our post office box and phone number will remain the same). Now, your financial contributions will go further toward protecting our natural resources.
Your participation in our activities will only make us more successful.
