EVENT GOALS 1. It's about having fun! - One goal is to provide a safe and fun environment where local businesses can gather and compete against each other. The event is created for the whole family. We hope each paddler will bring family, friends, and co-workers to help cheer them on! 2.
Ohana-building - Another goal
is to build a sense of ohana (family), team spirit and pride in
each business while highlighting cooperation and working together.
Businesses and employees will benefit through friendly competition
- remember, a canoe moves best when paddlers are moving as one! 3.
Supporting our environment -
We are all "lucky we live Hawaii" for a variety of reasons,
one of which is our environment - from our beaches to our mountains
and valleys. Our goal is to help raise awareness and foster the
stewardship of Hawaii's environment through this fun event, by highlighting
issues of land-based pollution in our waters. Educational materials
and information will be displayed, along with tips on how each and
every one of us can help and get involved! 4.
Fundraise for a great cause
- The Blue Water Campaign is the only program in Hawai`i that works
to combat coastal pollution in a unique, multi-faceted style that
combines public and agency education with citizen monitoring efforts
and follow-through on enforcement responses. All of its hard work
is supported through fundraisers such as this one. The Sierra Club
will ensure that your donation will be put to good use in helping
protect Hawaii's Blue Water. For
