- FOR EDUCATORS: "The Great Runoff Challenge" - a great, "make them think" type of paper game.

- GROUP EXERCISES: "Thinking Through the Issues" - Directions: Divide class into groups (as many as 10). Hand them each a scenario. Ask them 2 questions: 1) What types of problems could potentially arise from this situation? 2) What would you do? Let them know that in all of these problems, the community, residents, government, and organizations can all be involved in some way. Whether they come up with an outreach/education plan, or stricter punishments, they will definitely have thought through the issues, and hopefully realized that it takes EVERYONE WORKING TOGETHER to solve many of our environmental problems.

**NOTE: Every one of the "Scenarios" has been an actual complaint called into the Blue Water Hotline. Some have been resolved, however many of the larger ones remain pending.

OTHER IDEAS...

- Create a fun game (we've done a bean bag toss) and as the "challenge" ask questions on water quality. Some examples are here: BLUE WATER QUESTIONS

- BE HANDS-ON!!!

Show the difference between mud-filled water and clear water (they can also see how the mud eventually settles onto everything below it - sometimes it's living coral!)

Collect marine debris the next time you're at the beach. Better yet, take your class or group to the beach and do a clean-up!!!

- Link up with other organizations that do: reef monitoring, fish monitoring, water quality testing, marine debris clean-ups, etc.!!!
