ANNOUNCEMENT: Waikamoi
There will be a two (2) trips to Maui this summer coordinated by the Hawaii Service Trip Program and sponsored by the Na Ala Hele Program on Maui.
As in the past, this summer, the Hawaii Service Trip Program will be creating a crew of 8 - 12 volunteers. This crew will travel from Oahu to Maui and will be working with the Maui Na Ala Hele Program to help maintain a hiking trail in Waikamoi for a week. For 4-5 days, you will be using "wood" made of recycled materials to build "boxes" on the trail and filling them up with gravel to help cut down on erosion and help hikers from tripping over tree roots. On our day off, we'll be hiking in native rainforests, exploring Haleakala, and or sight seeing. It's up to you and the rest of the crew. If this sounds like fun or if you're a person with an open mind and love for Hawai'i's wilderness areas and has a willingness to work hard, then I do hope you consider applying for this opportunity. Applicants must be in reasonable physical condition. So when is this trip? It is tentatively set for June 18th - 24th, 2006 and July 9th - 15th, 2006.Exactly how much is it?
