Help Keep the North Shore Country!

The Sierra Club and Keep the North Shore Country have filed a suit to require that the Turtle Bay resort update their 21-year-old environmental impact statement before adding thousands of new hotel/condo units. In our ongoing battle to keep our near shore waters and reefs clean, healthy and accessible, the O`ahu Group Executive Committee voted to raise $10,000 over the next few weeks to provide urgently needed funding to continue both of our very important law suits. When we met on Maui, the State Chapter agreed to provide $2000 toward this ambitious goal to support the costs of continuing litigation on:

1. the "raw sewage spills" suit against the City and County of Honolulu for polluting the entire South Shore dozens of times, and

2. the suit to stop the massive resort and residential development at Turtle Bay that will adversely effect some of the North Shore's most beautiful beaches and reefs.

If you wish to make a donation, you may write a check to the Sierra Club Foundation. Please make sure each check reads "Sierra Club Foundation, Oahu Group Account" and nothing more. No notes in the memo; no "litigation fund". The wording is important for us to be able to cash the check. Please mail the check to PO Box 2577 Honolulu, HI 96803. . .and please talk with a few of your friends and colleagues and ask them to do the same.
